Maternity Champions are a fabulous team of highly skilled, local volunteers who have a passion for supporting parents on their parenting journey. They help new and expectant parents from pregnancy through to baby’s first birthday in a range of ways including preparing for birth, bonding with baby, breastfeeding and first aid.
Maternity Champions want parents and their wider families living in the area to get the most from local ante- and postnatal services to make this important stage of their lives the best it can be: they understand that being pregnant and having a baby is an amazing experience but that at times can be overwhelming and isolating.
You will find Maternity Champions working within your local hospitals, GP surgeries, at midwifery and health visitor clinics, children’s centres, libraries and community centres.
