The Churchill Gardens and Tachbrook Community Champions project launched in June 2015 and got off to a great start. We currently have an active and passionate team of dedicated community champions.
The Community Champions programme uses a dynamic community engagement process to bring people together to build strong communities and local services. We develop effective solutions for local areas, by giving residents and communities the tools and resources to identify local issues and problems and to come up with their own solutions. We aim to build the capacity of local estates, neighbourhoods and individuals to work together with local providers and commissioners so that services are better designed to meet local health and social care needs.
Community champions are local people who live in the Churchill and Tachbrook wards volunteer their time and make use of their networks to connect friends, families and neighbours with local services, and spread important messages about health and wellbeing.
The Churchill Gardens and Tachbrook Community Champions project is run by the Abbey Centre and is funded by the Public Health Service and a number of Housing Associations.
